Today I’m going to do something a little different on my page. I’m going to give you a review on this book that was kindly sent to me.
As most know, I’m a mom to a little boy that means the world to me. But, this role has taken some time to get used to. Being a wife, and a mom has definitely placed my relationship with Christ on the back burner, as i’m sure happens with a lot of moms out there.
We as moms are always busy. No matter if we have a job outside our duties as a mom, or if we stay-at-home with our little ones. We all feel the same overwhelming feeling when it feels like motherhood is taking over our lives. Sometimes we need a break. Just a second to reflect on what’s going on in our lives. None of us have our life together. Trust me, I wish we did.
Sometimes we feel like we are far from being whole, and very far from being holy. But our definition or idea of those two words are different from what God actually sees.
“It’s being content in the crazy and having peace knowing God’s in control even when I’m stretched thin and don’t feel like I can do anything else.”- Kristin Funston
Us moms feel like we just need to make it one more hour, or just get to another nap (that they actually sleep through). We are just surviving. We’re trying to just make it through another day of motherhood. No matter what type of role we have, whether we’re a working mom or a stay-at-home mom, we are all in survival mode. We sometimes forget we need to do more than survive. We need to thrive. And we can- with Jesus.
He can show us how to feel whole, and live holy.
This book walks you through how to live those things while living your role as a mama. Our role as a mother is so important, but so are we. And in order for anything in life to prosper, we have to nurture it.
So nurture yourself. Take care of yourself- emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Your child needs a nurtured mama.
Funston talks about how to do so- eliminating what’s not drawing you closer to God, and prioritizing Him and your relationship.
Jesus gives so much to us, even nurturing our roles as a mom.
Through the tears, endless feedings, and sleepless nights, Jesus brings so much to us.
We are important.
We can feel whole again.
We can live holy.
We can be the best mom we can be.
“This life-because of Jesus- doesn’t need more from moms. It gives more for moms.” – Funston
More info on this book- More For Mom
Kristin Funston’s website and social media accounts:
More for Mom will encourage women to stop believing the lie that more is needed from them, and start living with the truth that more is available for them.
With real-life talk, humor and convicting biblical truths, Kristin Funston helps hard working mamas to look at each day and each facet of their life to discover what happens when they believe God has more for them than what they think the world needs from them.
And what He has available is a whole and holy life, just waiting to be claimed–a salvation and day-to-day reality complete just as it is. The pieces of each mom’s life–the work life, mom life, social life, etc.–are mended together through Christ to complete her one whole life, set apart because of Him.
This book is a stepping stone to help working mothers reset their spiritual and emotional health, habits, and relationship with God. There are performance pressures at work, home, and mind-sets that affect a mom’s ability to feel complete and live more closely aligned with God. This book includes the beginning steps for moms to walk in wholeness and holiness by asking God for more.
